Description
The IDS deals with the effects and design possibilities of diversity in complex sociotechnical systems. The focus of research and teaching is the question of how diversity and variety in socio-technical systems can contribute to innovation under the conditions of digital transformation. We address this question with an interdisciplinary team in a broad application context, ranging from individualised products and services to diversity management in teams and organizations to collaboration across organizational and industry boundaries. Methodologically, much of our work is based on modelling and simulation, especially System Dynamics. Research and teaching at the IDS are closely linked to the
work in the research field of digitalisation and sustainability at the Center for Management Research of the German Institutes of Textile and Fibre Research Denkendorf (DITF-MR).
Your main tasks
- In teaching: content-related and organizational support of the courses offered by the IDS in the field of System Dynamics / Business Dynamics and supervision of students.
- In research: investigation of the mechanisms and effects related to new value creation structures in the textile industry (e.g. circular economy concepts, microfactories, platform business models) with the help of System Dynamics, in cooperation with DITF-MR.

The opportunity to obtain a doctoral degree (Dr.-Ing. or Dr. rer. pol., depending on the respective masters’ degree and on the topic) is given and will be systematically and actively promoted.
The position is remunerated according to pay-grade E13 of the German collective agreement for the public service (TV-L) depending on the candidate's qualification.

Job profile
You have profound knowledge of System Dynamics and have completed a relevant university degree with above-average success that matches the main focus of the position in terms of content and methodology. Specific knowledge of the textile industry is not a prerequisite for employment. A very good knowledge of written and spoken German and English is required. You are able to work in a structured manner, enjoy scientific work and appreciate diversity. You have solid communication skills, above-average commitment and the ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary team.
